Our History

Persimmon plc, one of the UK's leading housebuilders, was established by Life President, Duncan Davidson in 1972. Persimmon plc was first quoted on the London Stock Exchange in 1985. The Group's head office is based in Fulford, York. Today Persimmon Plc is one of the UK's most successful and reputable housebuilders.

In January 2006, the company completed the acquisition of Westbury Plc, another listed housebuilder in the UK. Previous major acquisitions include the Beazer Group in March 2001 and the Ideal Homes group of companies in February 1996.

The Persimmon business began in York and has steadily grown to become a nationwide housebuilder with operating businesses spread across the UK from Exeter to Edinburgh.The Group trades under the brand names Persimmon Homes, Westbury Partnerships and Charles Church.
